LaVerne & Dorothy Brown

"We have always believed in Silver Cross Hospital's mission to provide quality health care services to our community."

LaVerne (“Bitz”) and Dorothy (“Dottie”) Brown were deeply admired and highly respected for their success in business, devoted commitment to volunteerism, and spirit of generosity.

In 2001, the Brown’s bequeathed a transformational gift to create the LaVerne and Dorothy Brown Cardiovascular Institute at Silver Cross Hospital. Because of their exceptional support, the Hospital was able to integrate multiple cardiovascular services together in a single location for the benefit of patients. First-hand experience and wonderful care led the couple to contribute a second leadership gift in 2009. The Brown’s supported the partnership Silver Cross Hospital created with the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab bringing the country’s best rehabilitation service to Will County. In sincere appreciation of the Brown’s continued generosity, the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is named in their honor.

Over the years, LaVerne and Dorothy Brown were exemplary in their service and support for countless organizations serving the needs of area residents. Dorothy gave unselfishly of her time, talent and resources serving as a member of the Silver Cross Foundation Board of Directors and member of Childerguild.

For their outstanding leadership and community service, the couple received the Silver Cross Sangmeister Medal of Excellence in 2001.

Silver Cross Hospital, our patients, and community residents truly are the beneficiaries of the Brown’s legacy of caring service and extraordinary generosity.

Physicians on Silver Cross Hospital’s Medical Staff have expertise in their areas of practice to meet the needs of patients seeking their care. These physicians are independent practitioners on the Medical Staff and are not the agents or employees of Silver Cross Hospital. They treat patients based upon their independent medical judgment and they bill patients separately for their services.
