Jennie Mariner

In 2014 Jennie C. Mariner provided a generous estate gift to help fund costs associated with construction of Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. Jennie was born in Joliet and always proud of her Joliet heritage. She was a very giving person and if you were a friend, you were a friend for life. Jennie often chose to remain anonymous in her generosity.

Jennie was the first woman elected to the Silver Cross Hospital Board of Directors. She also volunteered as a member of the Silver Cross Hospital Advisory Board in the Encore Shop and served as President of Childerguild.

Jennie used her boundless energy in voluntary service to Silver Cross Hospital because she thought it was a good use of her time. In addition to her volunteer service to Silver Cross Hospital, Jennie was President of the Joliet Women of Rotary, a member of Madera Canyon DAR, the Colonial Dames and a deaconess and elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Joliet. Jennie was married to George Mariner and together they owned the Rainbo Bakery in Joliet.

Jennie’s legacy of service will be forever honored through the healing mission of Silver Cross Hospital.

Physicians on Silver Cross Hospital’s Medical Staff have expertise in their areas of practice to meet the needs of patients seeking their care. These physicians are independent practitioners on the Medical Staff and are not the agents or employees of Silver Cross Hospital. They treat patients based upon their independent medical judgment and they bill patients separately for their services.
