Transparency in Coverage

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) Machine-Readable Files for Self-Insured  Plans

BCBS logo

Applies to Self-Insured Groups

The Transparency in Coverage Final Rule requires insurers and group health plans to publish machine-readable files starting July 1, 2022.

The link below contains information related to Silver Cross Hospital’s group health plan via its health plan administrator: in-network rates and an out-of-network allowed amounts and billed charges for covered items and services in a machine readable file as required by the Affordable Care Act transparency in coverage rule. These machine-readable files are intended by the Departments of Labor, Treasury, and HHS to promote health insurance literacy, consumerism, and competition by providing this information in a public forum so that industry innovators are able to compile and present this information to consumers and promote transparency.

Physicians on Silver Cross Hospital’s Medical Staff have expertise in their areas of practice to meet the needs of patients seeking their care. These physicians are independent practitioners on the Medical Staff and are not the agents or employees of Silver Cross Hospital. They treat patients based upon their independent medical judgment and they bill patients separately for their services.
