Silver Cross Hospital Names Mary Ann Palermo Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety

Silver Cross Hospital is pleased to announce the promotion of Mary Ann Palermo to Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety. Palermo, who joined Silver Cross in May 2023, most recently served as Director of Quality and Patient Safety. 

Palermo has an extensive background in quality and patient safety. Prior to joining Silver Cross, she served as the Vice President of Quality for AMITA Health and Ascension Illinois. Palermo helped set the strategic plan for quality and patient safety across the care continuum and led several projects including Age Friendly Care, Maternal Mortality & Morbidity reduction, Recognize and Rescue mortality reduction strategy, the expansion of the patient safety program and the development of AMITA’s COVID-19 playbooks.   

At Silver Cross, Palermo oversees the hospital’s Quality and Patient Safety program including infection prevention, patient safety and high reliability initiatives, regulatory compliance, and other projects designed to achieve desired clinical outcomes for the patients served. 

Palermo holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Saint Xavier University and a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Rush University. She also earned a Patient Safety Certificate from Johns Hopkins University and holds certifications as a certified professional in healthcare quality and a certified professional in patient safety.
