Longtime Premier Suburban Medical Group Patients Excited to Follow Their Favorite Physicians to New Orland Park Office
Family Medicine Physician Dr. Firouzeh Naghdi and Hematologist/Oncologist Dr. Refat Baridi, who practice with Premier Suburban Medical Group (PSMG), have offices in the new PSMG Medical Pavilion in Orland Park, which opened to patients March 11.
When Silver Cross Hospital and Premier Suburban Medical Group (PSMG) opened their new 42,000-square-foot medical building at the northeast corner of 171st Street and LaGrange Road in Orland Park on March 9, Jeanette Wilkinson was among the more than 700 guests who attended.
Not because she needed medical care; the longtime PSMG patient couldn’t wait to get a look at the inside.
“I’ve been passing by. I love it!” said Wilkinson, a PSMG patient for more than 20 years, thanks to the care provided by Family Medicine physician, Dr. Firouzeh Naghdi .
“I go where she goes,” said Wilkinson, of Country Club Hills. “She is so patient; so understanding. A great family doctor. My girls see her now, too.”
Wilkinson started seeing Dr. Naghdi following open heart surgery and needed a family doctor. Dr. Naghdi was in South Holland then, and part of the former Pronger Smith Medical Group.
In 2020, Silver Cross Hospital formed a partnership with several former Pronger Smith Medical Care physicians, who have a long history of serving patients in the Orland Park area. PSMG is currently staffed by more than three dozen primary care and specialty care physicians and advanced practice providers exclusively affiliated with Silver Cross.
“I really like her manner,” Wilkinson said. “She tells me the right things to do to stay healthy. She will tell me what I can eat that won’t make me need to take more pills. Or to take it easy and not work so hard. And she finally got me to get a colonoscopy. She said it would be fine, and it was!”
Wilkinson and other patients with longtime ties to PSMG said they would follow their doctors anywhere, and have.
After one change of groups, Kenneth White of Orland Hills said he drove 45 minutes rather than give up appointments with Dr. Naghdi.
“I’ve been seeing her for my various ailments for 20 years,” White said. “She is so knowledgeable. She keeps me going. I told her, ‘You’re not getting rid of me that easy!’
“Dr. Naghdi gives it to me straight. If she sees something in one of my blood tests, she’ll let me know what we need to do. She has been working hard to get me in good enough shape to get off the diabetes medication. I would never give her up, that’s for sure.”
He’s thrilled about their new location in Orland Park. So is Wilma Jones, a patient of Dr. Refat Baridi , hematologist/oncologist, and one of the founders of PSMG.
She has seen Dr. Baridi since 2009, after a problem with her blood was discovered when she tried to donate. When other doctors were having difficulty nailing down exactly what the problem was, Dr. Baridi diagnosed myelodysplastic anemia, a type of cancer where the red blood cells don’t fully mature, causing a very low count.
“I liked his conversational manner,” said Jones of Park Forest. “I liked how he treated me. I was not just a number to him.”
Dr. Baridi keeps an eye on her red blood counts, she said. When they fall too low, she has a blood transfusion.
“I still drive, and I feel blessed every day,” Jones said. “Dr. Baridi is wonderful.”
And that new building, she said, I’m ecstatic. Every time I drive past the building, I say, ‘I’ll see you soon!’”
