Silver Cross Foundation to Recognize First Midwest Bank with Corporate Citizen Award at 31st Annual Charity Golf Classic
The Silver Cross Foundation will hold its Annual Charity Golf Classic presented by Hollywood Casino Joliet Monday, June 27, 2022, at Crystal Tree Country Club in Orland Park benefiting Silver Cross Hospital. To commemorate the fundraiser’s 31st anniversary, Silver Cross will present First Midwest Bank, a division of Old National Bank, with the 2022 Silver Cross Corporate Citizen Award.
The award recognizes a local business that has demonstrated meaningful leadership through corporate social responsibility programs, philanthropy and volunteerism in our community and at Silver Cross Hospital.
Being a good corporate citizen has been a part of First Midwest’s DNA since the founding of the original bank – Union National Bank and Trust Company of Joliet in 1940 by C.D. Oberwortmann, Andrew Barber and Frank Turk – three loyal Silver Cross patrons. Since then, First Midwest has grown and evolved significantly, but their mission remains unchanged: helping their clients achieve financial success in the communities in which their staff live and work.
“Not only is First Midwest a loyal corporate philanthropy partner, but in recent years, Mike Scudder, Old National’s Executive Chairman, and Jim Roolf, Senior Vice President and Corporate Relations Officer, have given unselfishly of their time to serve on the Silver Cross Board of Trustees. Jim also led the capital campaign to raise $9 million to build the replacement hospital,” said Craig Lyons, Silver Cross Foundation Board of Directors Chairman.
Besides supporting Silver Cross, the First Midwest Charitable Foundation has provided more than $750,000 to local United Way COVID-19 emergency response funds, awarded $500,000 in grants to local non-profit organizations, and provided $250,000 in grants to 80+ organizations by matching their employees’ charitable gifts over the past two years.
“First Midwest exemplifies the values of caring service to others that are the bedrock of Silver Cross Hospital tradition,” said Ruth Colby, Silver Cross Hospital President and CEO.
Sponsorship opportunities and limited morning and afternoon tee times for 18 holes of golf are available by contacting the Silver Cross Foundation at (815) 300-7105 or visiting www.silvercross.org/giving/events.
