Silver Cross Employees Honored for Years of Dedicated Service
Way back in 1977, many were lining up to see “Star Wars” and “Saturday Night Fever;” Jimmy Carter was in the White House, and a gallon of gas would set you back a whopping 62 cents.
Silver Cross Hospital honored employees with 10 or more years of service at a special dinner at DiNolfo’s Banquets in Homer Glen. Pictured from left to right are: Theresa Christofaro, R.N., Endoscopy; Sheila Monroe, Cook, Nutrition Services; and Sandy Roots, R.N., Director, Nursing Administration.
That also was the year Sandy Roots, Theresa Christofaro and Sheila Monroe joined Silver Cross Hospital , then at the former campus in Joliet.
Roots, a House Supervisor, Christofaro, an Endoscopy Nurse, and Monroe, a Nutrition Services Cook, have seen many changes during their 45 years at Silver Cross, including the move to a new campus in New Lenox 10 years ago.
They led the pack of very special people who reached milestone anniversaries of service to Silver Cross – from 10 years all the way up to 45 years – and were honored at the 2022 Employee Service Awards Dinner September 22 at DiNolfo’s Banquets in Homer Glen.
In today’s American workplace, longevity is something that’s hard to find. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average U.S. employee spends about four years at a job before moving on. But the 2022 Silver Cross honorees averaged about 16 years of service to Silver Cross, which is four times the national average, and a testament to their dedication and to Silver Cross’ efforts to build a professional, family atmosphere among staff.
Times have changed in the past 45 years, but the commitment to excellence offered by Roots, Christofaro, Monroe and all of Silver Cross’ employees has not, amassing a legacy of hard work and dedication.
They helped make Silver Cross a local, regional and national leader in healthcare.
