Sid Bala Appointed to Silver Cross Board of Directors
Experienced technology industry executive Sid Bala of Chicago has been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

Bala’s extensive career has been focused on creating thriving organizations that address the unique challenges of today’s businesses. The former Flossmoor resident founded alligatortek, a software development company that successfully met the needs of global clients, by identifying and solving bottlenecks in business processes.
A Microsoft Managed Partner, alligatortek earned numerous awards over the years, including the Innovative Technology for Good Citizenship Partner of the Year Award in 2015; the 2016 Chicago Innovation Award and the 2014 Chicago Innovation Award; the 2014 Chicago’s Best of the Best Small Business; and One of the Top 50 Employers for Gen Y Emerging Talent in 2013.
In 2020, Bala sold alligatortek to HealthChampion, a healthcare consumer platform, and joined the Board of Directors. In 2021, he assumed the role of President. The company is now known as Calcium.
Bala earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Chicago, attended the Entrepreneurial Master’s Program at the Massachusetts Institute and Technology and earned a master’s degree in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
His community service includes membership in The Economic Club of Chicago, where he serves on the Board of Directors and previously on the Executive Committee. He also serves as the Board Chair of Bookwallah. He is a Board Member of Chicago Innovation, on the Membership Commission at The Chicago Club and a member and investor in Hyde Park Angels. He previously served on the Business Community & Culture Committee for P33 Chicago and as a Board Member of the Chicago Chapter of Entrepreneurs Organization.
