Food is Love
One thing’s for certain amid the recent COVID surge uncertainty, our community continues to stand by Silver Cross through it all. We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support during a very taxing time.
“Thank you to the many donors, families, businesses and organizations including the Joliet Region Food and Beverage Association who have provided meals, snacks, gift cards and hand-made cards of appreciation for our Silver Cross Healthcare Heroes over the last two months,” said Tracy Simons, Executive Director of the Silver Cross Foundation. “Your kindness has meant the world to our staff.”
In January, the Silver Cross Foundation reopened a Meal Train app allowing friends of Silver Cross to donate food or make cash contributions to help pay for meals for Hospital workers. Since then, the Foundation has raised over $23,000 and have distributed over 2,500 meals so far.
Donations have also supported the Hospital’s new Kindness Kart which rolls throughout the campus filled with treats bringing smiles to staff who may have had a tough day. A special thanks to Raffy’s Candy and St. Jude’s School in New Lenox for helping stock the Kart.
Donors have also shared many positive messages about Silver Cross too, including the family of former long-term COVID-19 patient Brad Moss, who recently went home after 3-1/2 months. “Thank you for all you do. Your hard work is VERY much appreciated!”
