June DAISY Winner, Brooklyn Hayes, Goes Extra Mile for Patients
Last month, Brooklyn Hayes, Unit 6:2 nurse, received a patient who was admitted through the Emergency Department. Brooklyn had never met her patient, Marilou, before, but being the excellent nurse that she is, Brooklyn knew exactly what to do and how to help Marilou receive and understand the care she needed.
Here's what Marilou P. had to say about her nurse, Brooklyn: "On May 10th, I was again admitted through the ER. That is when I met the most caring nurse I have ever met. She came in to get all of my information and get me set up in the computer. She had the biggest welcoming smile, putting me at ease and relaxed. She took time to ask a few questions and to tell me a little about herself. She was my nurse until 7 p.m. that day. When she was leaving for the night, she stopped in my room and told me she would be back the next day and hoped we would be able to solve some of my problems.
In talking to her, I mentioned sometimes not knowing what a new doctor was referring to. If she saw a "new-to-me" doctor coming to my room, she would just step in quietly and stand by the door. After a doctor left, she would come and see if I understood all that had been discussed.
She is the most caring, attentive nurse I have ever had. She was never too busy to help me when needed. If she passed my room, she always asked if all was okay and did I need anything. Her name is Brooklyn Hayes.
I feel that everyone should know just how special she is. I received extra special care from her and I am 100% sure she treats all her patients with the same devotion and care as I received.
Please know you have one in a million nurses with Brooklyn."
Thank you, Brooklyn, for your dedication and kindhearted care of, not just your patient, Marilou, but for all of your patients!
