Dr. Danielson and Nick Tyrell appointed to Silver Cross Hospital Foundation Board

Mark Danielson, MD and Nick Tyrell have joined the Board of Directors for the Silver Cross Foundation – the 501c (3) fundraising arm for Silver Cross Hospital.

“We are thrilled that Nick and Dr. Danielson have chosen to join the Silver Cross Foundation Board,” said Tracy Simons, Executive Director of the Silver Cross Foundation. “With their support and guidance, we will continue to provide needed financial resources to assist Silver Cross Hospital in enhancing and expanding services to our patients and the community.”

Dr. Mark Danielson retired in 2020 after 32 years on the Silver Cross Medical Staff as a general surgeon. During his tenure he served four years on the Silver Cross Board of Trustees as Vice Chairman of the Quality & Cost Effectiveness Committee and three terms as Chairman of the Department of Surgery. In 2010, he received the Silver Cross Sehring Medal of Excellence in healthcare. Over the years, Dr. Danielson has volunteered with the Will-Grundy Medical Clinic, Christian Youth Center Board where he served as President for 14 years, and as a foster parent for more than 10 years with the Evangelical Child and Family Agency. In addition, he participated in medical mission work in Honduras with the World Gospel Outreach and with Cup of Cold Water Ministries in Bolivia. Last year, Dr. Danielson taught undergraduate Biology at the University of St. Francis. 

Dr. Danielson resides in Channahon with his wife, Carol, who is a Nurse Practitioner. They have three adult children and several grandchildren. 

Nick TyrellNick Tyrell

Nick Tyrell grew up in the Joliet and Plainfield communities, graduated from Plainfield Central High School and later from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a bachelor’s degree in financial economics. He began his career with Edward Jones at its headquarters in St. Louis, MO, directly after graduation. He is currently a Financial Advisor in the Joliet office serving individual investors with Human-Centered Complete Wealth Management.

Nick currently resides in Shorewood with his wife, Amanda, and is a major advocate for giving back to his community. He is an active member in local business and philanthropic organizations such as the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Will County, Joliet Area Young Professionals, Rotary Club of Joliet and the Alzheimer's Association. He also is the founder and former Executive Director of the Loyola University Dance Marathon which has been raising money for the past 10 years for Lurie Children’s Hospital. 

Danielson and Tyrell join the other members of the Silver Cross Foundation Board of Directors:  Claudia Aguirre, Ben Benson, Tim Borchert, Ruth Colby, Sonia Coleman, Laura Czerkies, Susan Frangella, Lydia Garvey, Judy Hageman (Treasurer), Stacy Holland (Secretary), Craig Lyons (Chairman), Kathy Miller (Vice Chairman), Jim Pitcairn and Michele Vana.
