Silver Cross Hospital Makes History with Arrival of COVID-19 Vaccine

What a thrilling moment in our Silver Cross history as the first COVID-19 vaccine doses arrived at the hospital on December 16th.

There were cheers and tears as Frank Butler, PharmD, RPh, BCPS, Administrative Director of Pharmacy, officially accepted the delivery from the Will County Emergency Management Agency with full police escort.

Two clinical leaders Chief Nursing Officer Michael Mutterer and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Chris Udovich sat side-by-side as they received their first dose of the vaccine.

“This vaccine is a game-changer and represents hope in the fight against COVID-19,” Michael said.

Dr. Udovich added, “The arrival of the vaccine is huge! But getting back to normal is going to require action on all fronts, including vaccination, wearing a mask, social distancing and handwashing. We have to continue to be vigilant.”

Over 100 frontline staff, doctors and nurses began receiving the vaccine within minutes of delivery with resounding excitement!
