Silver Cross Offers Free Lecture on Women’s Health Screenings

When it comes to a family’s healthcare, women rule the roost, making nearly 80 percent of all decisions. Women also tend to be the primary caregiver when a family member becomes ill. In fact, women devote so much time to everyone else, they often overlook their own needs.

Ladies, grab your girlfriends and join general/breast surgeon Dr. Maria Rapciak on Wednesday, May 1, 6 p.m., as she presents the free lecture Screenings for Women’s Health at Silver Cross Hospital. Dr. Rapciak will cover breast and colorectal cancer screening recommendations, including mammograms, colonoscopy, and more recent testing advancements.

Highly sought after for her expertise in breast and general surgery, Dr. Rapciak has offices in New Lenox and Homer Glen and is on staff at the Silver Cross Breast Center, located inside the Center for Women’s Health.

Dr. Rapciak, along with a team of other surgeons, can quickly diagnose breast disease, explain the range of treatment options available, and help patients decide on a plan tailored to their needs and goals. This may include breast-conserving surgery, surgical biopsy, and mastectomy.

“Patient empowerment and education are crucial to a strong patient-doctor partnership,” Dr. Rapciak adds, “I’m passionate about making sure my patients understand all of their options and are comfortable making the choice that’s best for them.”

Regular health screenings are a must for any woman no matter what your age. And with so many people depending on you to be your best, you owe it to them – and most importantly, to you – to stay healthy and keep on top of potential health issues before they become a problem.
