Silver Cross Hospital’s Anthony Wilson Named Risk Manager of the Year
The Illinois Society of Healthcare Risk Management has named Silver Cross Hospital Director of Risk Management Anthony (Tony) Wilson as its Risk Manager of the Year.
Wilson received a commemorative plaque and acknowledgement at the society’s annual conference in Bloomington, Ill.
A registered nurse and an attorney, Wilson joined Silver Cross Hospital in March 2018. As director of Risk Management, he works with leadership and staff throughout the hospital to identify areas of potential risk and implement educational offerings and procedures to mitigate identified risk.
Prior to joining Silver Cross, he served as assistant general counsel and legal risk counsel at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He has more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry – serving in both nursing and legal counsel roles, including risk management at Advocate Christ and Edward Elmhurst Health System, and as a critical care nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Wilson earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago and a Juris Doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School, where we also earned a Master of Laws degree.
“In a very short time Tony has become an essential part of Silver Cross and brought an extensive amount of knowledge and perspective to his role,” said President/CEO Ruth Colby. “Because he is both a registered nurse and a lawyer it allows him to easily work across the many disciplines within the hospital.”
