Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission offers Healthcare Scholarships to Local Residents 

The Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission is pleased to offer healthcare scholarships for individuals who reside in zip codes 60432, 60433, 60436, and the Lockport Grade School District #89. 

“The purpose of the scholarships is to provide financial assistance to those individuals pursuing a course of instruction for healthcare-related programs,” said Margie Woods, Chair of the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission. 

The amount of the scholarship will be determined based on the program selected. Scholarships may be used for tuition, books and school fees. 

Application requirements:

  • Completed application.
  • Personal statement explaining why the candidate has chosen the particular course of study and what the candidate hopes to achieve.
  • Three letters of reference from people not related to the candidate. 

Applications must be completed and received by April 30, 2019, to be considered for a scholarship.  Candidates will be notified if they are selected for an interview by May 30, 2019. Written notification of scholarship awards will be sent to candidates by June 30, 2019.

Since 2008, the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission has provided over $2.15 million in scholarships and grants to create a stronger, healthier future for the residents of the eastside of Joliet.
