Silver Cross Emergency Department Receives  Innovation Award for Performance Improvement

The Chicago Healthcare Executive’s Forum recently shined the spotlight on the Silver Cross Hospital Emergency Departure, presenting the hospital with its Leadership in Innovation Award at the Soldier Field United Club. The award recognizes a healthcare team that has inspired leadership, change, and advancement in the Chicago area healthcare community.

Since 2017, the Silver Cross Hospital Emergency Department has implemented over 20+ process improvement efforts with the support of the hospital’s administration and Emergency Department medical staff.

Together, this unstoppable team has transformed processes, shortened the window of time it takes for a patient to be seen by a provider and raised patient satisfaction scores.

“We are extremely honored and proud to have been chosen for this prestigious award,” said Dr. Georgios Filiadis, Assistant Medical Director of Emergency Medicine for Silver Cross. “For life’s unexpected illnesses and injuries, patients and their families can count on our entire team at Silver Cross to provide them with the safest, highest quality, personalized care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”

Since opening the doors to the new hospital at I-355 and Route 6 in 2012, Silver Cross remains dedicated to treating patients the way they should be treated with new services, enhanced expertise and safe, accessible care.

“For many, this care starts in the Emergency Department – either at the New Lenox Hospital or our Silver Cross Emergency Care Center at 143rd Street and Bell Road in Homer Glen,” said Dr. Filiadis.  “With over 70,000 visits annually, both facilities are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and staffed by the same group of board-certified emergency medicine physicians trained to treat patients of all ages.”

Patients are treated in private rooms with ample space for family members. To help expedite care, lab and imaging services are conveniently located nearby.  The Silver Cross Emergency Department is designated as a Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, and certified through IDPH as an Emergency Department approved for pediatrics.  Silver Cross also has an Urgent Care center at 1051 Essington Road on Joliet’s west side to provide after-hours medical care for sudden illnesses and injuries that don’t warrant a trip to the Emergency Department.  At Silver Cross Urgent Care, you can reserve a time to be seen online through SCHedule Now at www.silvercross.org. Using SCHedule Now, patients can also book appointments for mammograms, X-rays, blood draws and other tests and therapies at the Hospital and several satellite locations.
