Silver Cross Voted Best Emergency Clinic & Home Health in Chicago’s Southland
Silver Cross Hospital was recognized on Aug. 24, 2017 by the Daily Southtown readers for the third year in a row as the Best Emergency Clinic and Best Home Health Care Chicago’s Southland for 2017.
Readers of the Daily Southtown were asked to select their favorite local businesses in more than 100 categories using the ballot inside their newspaper or at dailysouthtown.com. The businesses with the most votes were recognized as the “best” in each category.
Since opening the doors to the new Hospital at I-355 and Route 6 in 2012, Silver Cross remains dedicated to treating patients the way they should be treated with new services, enhanced expertise and safe, accessible care.
For many, this care starts in the Emergency Department – either at the New Lenox Hospital or the Silver Cross Emergency Care Center at 143rd St. and Bell Rd. in Homer Glen. With over 75,000 visits annually, both facilities are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and staffed by the same group of board certified emergency medicine physicians trained to treat patients of all ages. Patients are treated in private rooms with ample space for family members. To help expedite care, lab and imaging services are conveniently located nearby. The Silver Cross Emergency Department is designated as a Level 2 Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, and recognized by IDPH to care for pediatric patients. Silver Cross is also the resource hospital for the area’s Emergency Medical System (EMS) System training paramedics and first responders with over 30 fire departments and ambulance services.
In January 2016, Silver Cross opened an Urgent Care center at 1051 Essington Rd. on Joliet’s west side to provide after-hours medical care for sudden illnesses and injuries that don’t quite warrant a trip to the Emergency Department. At the Silver Cross Urgent Care, there is no waiting and you can reserve a time to be seen online through SCHedule Now at www.silvercross.org. Using SCHedule Now, patients can also book appointments for mammograms, X-rays, blood draws and other tests and therapies at the Hospital and several satellite locations.
For patients need extra medical care, Silver Cross Home Health, offers comprehensive in-home services for patients who are ready to complete their recovery in the comfort of their own homes. Expert staff provides a full range of skilled services including wound and catheter care; infusion therapy; disease and medication management; and physical, occupational and speech therapy. Staff carefully monitors the patient’s progress, identifies and reports any condition changes to the patient’s physician. Patients and their caregivers are taught how to manage the patient’s healthcare needs independently which allows the majority of Silver Cross Home Health patients to remain in their home after the patient’s individual goals have been met. Silver Cross Home Health has been recognized as one the top 25% of Medicare-certified agencies for 10 consecutive years and was the first home health agency in the area to be accredited by the Joint Commission.
