Smoke Free Joliet

Smoke Free Joliet is dedicated to providing the public with the most current information concerning the smoke free issue in our area.

Smoke Free Joliet is a campaign consisting of restaurants, businesses, and organizations that have come together to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking and second-hand smoke in the community. Smoke Free Joliet continues to increase support to protect Joliet, and its workers and residents, against second hand smoke.

• Secondhand smoke is the third leading cause of preventable death in this country, killing approximately 65,000 nonsmokers in the U.S. each year.

• Secondhand smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals, including 69 that cause cancer.

• Secondhand smoke is proven to aggravate asthma and increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases in children and adults.
