The way you should be treated.™

Silver Cross offers a free program about peripheral artery disease on March 30.

According to the American Heart Association, peripheral artery disease is a serious medical condition that affects 8.5 million American adults. However many people don’t know they have it. Are you one of them? Silver Cross Hospital is offering a free program that will inform area residents about the causes and treatments for peripheral artery disease.

The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) at Silver Cross Hospital recently announced the appointment of Megan Parkes, M.D. as medical director overseeing all inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services offered throughout the hospital system.  She will lead RIC-Silver Cross’s acute care medical/surgical physical medicine program and 25 bed-rehabilitation unit as well as the four outpatient therapy facilities located at the Hospital, and at 250 E. Maple St. in New Lenox, 1051 Essington Rd in Joliet and 12701 W. 143rd St. in Homer Glen.

Dr. David Livingston and Michael Scudder have been appointed to the Silver Cross Hospital Board of Directors.

Silver Cross Hospital now has ten gold seals of accreditation as the organization received three additional accreditations as a result of a review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).  Most recently, the ACR awarded Silver Cross three-year term accreditations in the following disciplines: ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, which uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body parts to help providers diagnose illness, injury or other medical problems; nuclear medicine which is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and treat a variety of disease, including many types of cancers, heart disease and certain other abnormalities within the body; and Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized Tomography system (PET/CT) which can depict both technologies using a single machine to provide a picture of function (PET), a picture of anatomy (CT), and a merged picture of both the body’s metabolism and structure.

Five years ago, Silver Cross opened a state-of-the-art replacement hospital at I-355 and Route 6 in New Lenox on Feb. 26, 2012. Since then, Silver Cross has cared for more than 1.3 million patients while continuing to bring new services and enhanced expertise to the residents of Will County and beyond.
