Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission provides scholarship grant to Familias Unidas por la Educacion

New Lenox, IL (July 10, 2015)—Familias Unidas por la Educacion recently awarded $5,000 in scholarships from a Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission grant.  Each of the following students received a $1,000 scholarship on May 5:  Deisi Alcantar, Joliet Junior College; Juana Alvarado, St. Benedictine University; Heidy Del Toro, St. Xavier University; Erica Guzman, University of St. Francis; and Jesus Patino, Joliet Junior College.

Silver Cross Encore Shop Plans Back to School Sale

New Lenox, IL (July 10, 2015)—Silver Cross Hospital’s resale shop—Encore Shop, will host a Back to School Sale, Tuesday, July 28, Wednesday, July 29, Friday, July 31 and Saturday,  Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Some of the items available to purchase include school and office supplies, back packs, binders, dorm room needs and other school related materials.   All proceeds benefit Silver Cross Hospital, a not-for-profit health care provider. In addition, beginning July 28, all other items in the store will be half price.

Silver Cross Charity Golf Classic Raises $91,000 for New Services

The Silver Cross Foundation raised $91,000 at the 24th Annual Charity Golf Classic. Held at the historic Midlothian Country Club on June 23, 2014, over 145 golfers came out to support Silver Cross Hospital. Proceeds are going to the Campaign for Health: Investing in our Commitment to Excellence, a three year fund raising effort. This campaign will help fund programs, services, and medical technology used to care for our patients.

It’s critical for cancer patients and survivors to maintain the things in life that are important to them— energy, mobility, and activity level.  Oftentimes, people who survive cancer suffer from a serious side effect of treatment known as lymphedema, and they may not even be aware of it.  Fortunately, cancer patients can find relief with lymphedema therapy that is now available at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago at Silver Cross Hospital (RIC)

Cancer Patient Travels 2 Hours for Innovative Prone Breast Radiation Therapy

For 43-year-old Jacqueline Naas traveling two hours round trip to receive state-of-the-art prone breast radiation therapy at the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center at Silver Cross Hospital was worth every minute.
