Silver Cross Encore Shop Holds Antique & Collectible Sale Jan. 6
New Lenox, IL (Dec. 18, 2014)—Silver Cross Hospital’s resale shop—the Encore Shop, will hold its annual Antique and Collectibles Sale Tuesday, Jan. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Encore Shop is located in the Hershman Building, 1301 Copperfield Ave., Joliet—on the former Silver Cross Hospital campus. Some of the items that will be available to purchase at the Antique and Collectibles Sale include dolls, tea pots, china, tools, penguin collection, silver pieces, crystal, books, retro clothing and furs, quilts and linens. All proceeds benefit Silver Cross Hospital, a not-for-profit health care provider.

Lockport Man Survives Stroke Following Heart Surgery at Silver Cross Hospital
New Lenox, IL (Dec. 17, 2014)— Wayne Waddell was getting ready to go home from the hospital when he suffered a stroke on May 29, 2014. Just days before, paramedics had brought the Lockport resident to Silver Cross after experiencing a cardiac arrhythmia. This resulted in Waddell having a defibrillator placed to protect his heart from the rhythm happening again. While Waddell was eating lunch, his wife, Judy, noticed that something was not right. He was trying to eat his soup using his fingers. His face had begun to droop, and couldn’t communicate. Judy quickly called the nurse and within seconds, he was surrounded by a Code Stroke Team.
