Dr. Mark Danielson Elected to Silver Cross Hospital Board of Directors

New Lenox, IL (Nov. 9, 2012)—Mark Danielson, M.D., has been appointed to the Silver Cross Hospital Board of Directors.

danielson_m_cropped_newsWith over 30 years of experience, Dr. Danielson has diligently served the healthcare community. Throughout his 24 years at Silver Cross Hospital, he has shared his expertise as a leader serving as Chairman of the Surgery Department for three terms. Upon his appointment to the Board of Directors, he will serve as Vice Chairman on the Quality and Cost Effectiveness Committee at Silver Cross Hospital. 

He completed his undergraduate degree in economics at Vanderbilt University. Then he attended medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago.  He completed his general surgery residency at Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.   Dr. Danielson is on the medical staff at Silver Cross Hospital and Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.  

Throughout his life, he has worked hard and given freely of his time to improve the lives of others – whether he is helping a fellow physician, his family, area children or other countries. 

Over the years, Dr. Danielson has volunteered with several community organizations. For 18 years, he was a member of the Christian Youth Center Board where he served as President for 14 years. The Christian Youth Center Board serves the Joliet and Will County communities and is a non-denominational Christian outreach for families and kids offering a safe place for children to gather. In addition, Dr. Danielson and his wife, Carol, were foster parents for 10 years for 16 babies for the Evangelical Child and Family Agency. He also has participated in medical mission work in Honduras with the World Gospel Outreach and with Cup of Cold Water Ministries in Bolivia. 

Danielson joins 15 members of the Silver Cross Board of Directors. They are Jack Carlstrom, Connie Curran, Douglas Hutchison Jr. (First Vice Chairman), George F. Mahoney III, Al McCowan (Secretary), David Mikolajczak, D.O., Steve Morrissette (Treasurer), Paul Pawlak (President/CEO), John Phelan, Susan Prock, Salvador Rinella, M.D., James Roolf (Chairman of the Board), Alexander Sosenko, M.D., Mark Stofan (Second Vice Chairman), and Mary Totten.
