Silver Cross Physicians Join New Blue Medicare Advantage (HMO) Plan

Beginning January 1, 2013, Silver Cross Hospital and the physicians with the Silver Cross Managed Care Organization are pleased to join the network for Blue Medicare AdvantageSM, a new Medicare Advantage (Part C) plan offered to residents of Cook, DuPage, Kane, and Will counties by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL).  With over 200 primary and specialty physicians to choose from, the Silver Cross Managed Care Organization is the largest managed care provider caring for HMO Illinois, Blue Advantage and now Blue Medicare Advantage patients in Will County.

Blue Medicare Advantage is an “all-in-one” plan, providing Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance) benefits as well as prescription drug coverage (Part D).   Blue Medicare Advantage is different from Medicare Supplementinsurance.

Medicare Supplement insurance is designed to pay some of the health care costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover including copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. Blue Medicare Advantage provides all of the services that Original Medicare covers, plus includes prescription drug coverage (Part D) and additional benefits. Patients cannot have both Medicare Supplement insurance and Blue Medicare Advantage.
